Story
Both the vineyard and the wine are named for the fuzzy miniature hares that chomp on the grass and weeds in this biodynamic vineyard. Burello is made from older vine sangiovese and montepulciano than Vigna di Gino. It also is the only one of his reds that we import to see significant oak. Made up of a 60/40 blend of montepulciano and sangiovese, the fermentation is carried out in stainless steel with natural yeasts, followed by 25 days’ maceration. The montepulciano then spends 18 months in oak, while the sangiovese rests in stainless steel on its lees for the same period.Producer
A third-generation family farm run by the charismatic Natalino Crognaletti in the Marche region of central Italy. The estate is farmed organically and biodynamically. A glance at the wine labels will reveal that Natalino is an animal lover, and the estate is run to be home not just to healthy vines, but to the many animals that reside there.Goes Well With
