Most of the grapes for this one come from Maranges, organic certified. 100% whole bunch, so there’s a fresh green pepper note in there with some herbs kicking along underneath a juicy explosion of blackberries and plums. Very, very nice indeed

Description

Lumiluna Rio dello Spineto

The grapes are processed as soon as they are harvested, de-stemmed, crushed and placed in steel tanks where the fermentation is carried out by indigenous yeasts. The skins remain in contact with the wine for about 20 days. 70% of the mass ages in tonneaux for 12 months, the remainder in steel. It remains at least 12 months in the bottle before being marketed.

Lumiluna

Umbria, Italy

Lumiluna is a small, artisanal winery based in Mercatello, just south of Perugia in Umbria, Italy. It is run by winemakers Giulio Rinaldi and Luca Bigicchia, who founded the project in 2015. The estate is known for its “vineyard restoration” philosophy, working with abandoned or neglected vineyards and old vines across multiple small parcels in Umbria. Rather than planting new sites, they focus on recovering existing vines and preserving local agricultural heritage, often farming organically and working with minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar. Lumiluna produces small batch, natural leaning wines from native Umbrian varieties such as Grechetto, Trebbiano, and Sangiovese, alongside select international grapes.
