Galway Cheese Shop

Our Galway cheese shop is located on St Nicholas’s Church Square, in the heart of Galway city, where the local farmers market has been held every Saturday for generations. It was here that Kevin and Séamus Sheridan first set up their stall selling cheese in 1995, eventually making the beautiful building on the square our permantant Galway cheese shop.

The shop and wine bar are run by experienced cheesemongers and wine enthusiasts who are always happy to guide you through our selection of cheeses, wines, and other carefully chosen foods from Ireland and Europe.

A visit to Sheridans on a Saturday offers a glimpse of Galway at its liveliest and reflects the long tradition of weekend food trading in the city. During the week, the pace is calmer, allowing time to browse, to talk with one of our mongers, and to explore our shelves at ease. You can taste and learn about our wide range of farmhouse cheeses, olives, local organic fruit and vegetables, Irish and European charcuterie, and our other favourite foods.

Our wine shop & bar is located above the cheese shop and features a thoughtfully selected range of Italian, French, Spanish, and Portuguese wines, which can be enjoyed with cheese boards or light snacks overlooking the church sqaure.
