Meet the Cheesemaker Leitrim Hill Creamery, Sunday August 23rd 11am -1pm
Join the Centre of Food Culture Ireland with a visit to Leitrim Hill Creamery, a micro-creamery and smallholding goat farm nestled in the scenic landscape of Drumcong, County Leitrim.
Founded by Lisa Gifford, whose independent spirit and vision for “making something out of nothing” transformed a hay shed into a thriving artisan dairy, Leitrim Hill Creamery is a shining example of sustainable, small-scale food production rooted in community and tradition. Lisa is joined in the creamery by her daughter Gypsy and daughter-in-law Richelle, creating a truly family-run operation with a deep commitment to place and process.
Together, they craft small-batch, raw milk cheeses using milk from their own herd of goats and partner farmers in the region. Every step of their process – from land stewardship to personally developed microbial cultures – reflects their dedication to quality, sustainability, and the rich dairy heritage of County Leitrim.
This event will involve a guided tour of Leitrim Hill Creamery, insights into their cheesemaking philosophy, and a tasting of the distinctive Leitrim-made cheeses.
Proudly supported by Sheridans Cheesemongers.
