Story

From one of the first biodynamic certified producer in Castilla La Mancha in central Spain, this is an exceedingly fresh and drinkable wine, with a textured mouthfeel. Parra Jimenez winery was founded in 1993 with the completion of their Cuesta Colora winery, located on a scenic hilltop in Castilla-La Mancha. The founders, Francisco, Javier, and Luis, achieved certified organic status in 1995 and later obtained a Demeter certification for biodynamic practices.

Producer

Using White Verdejo grapes, this remarkable orange wine has been fermented with skin contact (normally removed), then later stored in large French oak vats. Skin contact retains the attractive amber colours and the lees ageing produces a smooth and complex wine. Refreshing with delicate aromas of peach and orange, the palate there are savoury peppery notes and a dry texture that balances some of the sweetness of the orange fruits. Moderate acidity and delicate hints of vanilla and spice on the finish, poured from a beautifully eye catching clay bottle. Definitely worth a try if you fancy something a bit unusual! Perfect as an aperitif, or with light salmon or chicken dishes with nutty grains.
